It is hoped that this section will shed light on some other artists and productions that I have been involved with over a number of years. In some cases, they are "hidden treasures" which I hope to bring to your attention so that these artists can be recognized...any donations made for songs in this section will go primarily to those artists or as per agreements with them. Where possible, direct links will take you to their sites to make purchases or get further information on them. Also included here, are some commercials and TV Themes which I wrote or co-wrote over the years and are free for your entertainment/derision/confusion.

I recently reconnected with political cartoonist Adrian Raeside who was the animation genius in the work we did for Sesame Street . Adrian has published "Return To Antarctica" in which he retraced his grandfathers journey as part of the ill-fated Scott Expedition to the South Pole. He is currently producing a documentary of the same name for which he has graciously allowed me to provide original music. For more information, please visit Adrian's website: http://www.raesidecartoon.com/
Opening Theme: Return To Antarctica

The Urban Peasant: long running cooking show
"Oh James" the Urban Peasant Theme (James Barber)

- co-written with Paul MacDonald, the cooking show ran for years on C.B.C. James has since passed away but left a legacy which includes his many cookbooks
The vocal version features internationally known jazz singer Dee Daniels
The instrumental version has solos by Dave Sinclair; guitar, Norm Quin; Flugel Horn; and Frank on keys

Paul and I wrote a number of songs together: - as usual - Dave Sinclair on guitar
Faster Than the Speed of Love
What In The World
Hard Times
The following featured Dee Daniels on vocals - really the best part of the songs as I was being dragged kicking and screaming to create dance songs with Paul..although I like the first of the three...egotistically maybe it's more Ludwigy? than the others
You Captured My Imagination -
Dance Alone
One on One
Jim Green had been the original producer on the Urban Peasant series. He also did a show on dresage. He asked me to write a Kur which is the music form for a dresage routine for horses. (like music for an Olympic skaters routine) The tempos and lengths are prescribed. This is a MIDI recording.
Kur
Kids Cook - this theme co-written with children's entertainer (??)___________ the show never made it past the pilot but I still think the concept was great as was the song.
Engineer Paul MacDonald and I wrote and produced a number of commercials and themes for radio and tv.
Arrow We're #1 - the trucking company
This next one was an excercise in writing:- trying to create a flowing melody for a long name..the lead vocalist has a nice almost Stevie Wonder quality to his voice
IWA & Community Credit Union
We also created a lot of music for Union Campaigns.
Say Union Yes: - 2 versions
The Country version complete with slide guitar
The Rhythm & Blues version with Tom Colclough again on alto sax
Over the years Paul MacDonald & I wrote commercials for virtually every political party..This one was for the BC NDP campaign.
Paul and I wrote a number of songs together:
Telus: One Hit Wonder.
designed to discourage music piracy, this spot had an aging rock star (sung by old me) complaining about not being able to keep up the extravagant life-style he had grown acustomed to.. I never got that rich but had fun doing the spot...I was vocalist only on this spot for another production company
Around the time I was working on the Janice Lozano cd (see below), I was approached about making some easy-listening music..After I said yes, I was advised that I needed to present demos of some songs by the next day...I wrote 3 songs in about 3 hours..
At Water's Edge
Radio Spoofs
These were often political-based satires inspired by the news or guests on the radio show.
Crying (Orbison) - on the release of former B.C. Premier Mike Harcourt's book "A Measure of Defiance." He got a real kick out of it.
(Conrad) "Black is the Colour" - about media monopolization ala Arlo Guthrie/Dylan - subsequently Conrad has had his methods of doing business catch up with him
No More Bongos - about Victoria B.C. considering banning bongo players from the harbourfront tourist area
A comment on the commercialization of Christmas Joy To TheMall
Bridge Under Construction - work on the Ironworkers Memorial bridge had the North shore commuters in a tizzy
We took shots at all parties equally although some "got it" better or more than others
It's Not Easy Being Green (The Party, that is)
If I Only Had A Brain (from the Wizard of Oz)
Campaign advisors had now Premier Campbell wear a flannel shirt when he visited the "working North" which backfired because he is more "Bay St." I wonder if this song is why my studio was audited within 2 months of the Liberal election win..Gordon was not amused!
,..or perhaps it was this one, made famous by Sammy Davis - inspired by a publicity stunt involving a dump truck and loonies
You Can't Do That (Beatles). a shot at how the NDP had lost the trust of many but were still expected to get a 2nd term because of the disarray of the right
How Long/Here For a Long Time - when the Liberals lost again there was speculation that Campbell was a fair weather politician and would leave. Ironically he has just resigned as Premier in 2010 after years in office.
Another Day Older NDPer in Debt
and when the Liberals took over: It's Your Party
Some More non politician stuff:
Dr Laura (ala Robert Palmer) - relationship expert..song includes her catch phrases
Shakin' All Over/Whole Lot of Shakin' goin on (Guess Who/Jerry Lee Lewis) - we had a mild quake off the west coast which reminded us B.C. types whose fault everything is
who would have thought Frank that it all sta...
