It's About Time

Sometimes when you’re ‘dancing as fast as you can’ you fail to nurture those who give you strength: In relationships, taking your partner or friends for granted,  In life, taking the world around us for granted, and in music, forgetting that “if there ain’t no audience, there ain’t no show” (Bill Henderson, Chilliwack).
My parents were active in their church and would always support the fund-raising efforts.  The “church ladies” would often sell knitted embroidery so our house had an excess of these treasures including what looked like a bulls-eye with the letters TUIT on it.  On the back, it said, “for those who never get a round tuit.  Quoting this lame joke in the song is an homage to Mom.  I don’t know where the wooden poker chip used in the photo came from but I’ve had it for years.  I thought it was time to quit complaining and record again.

Mama said,
“most days you better get with it”
Mama said,
“other days you might just as well stay in bed”
For too many days
I’ve been avoiding what’s needed
Gotta put on my boots, roll up my sleeves
Get a ROUND TUIT, it’s easy to see,

It’s about time, I told you that I love you
It’s about time, I remind you that I care
It’s about time, to do all the things I said I’d do
No more delayin’ believe what I’m sayin’
God willin’ I’m praying I’m on my way

The world outside says
“you’re too old, better quit it,
Try some botox, or dye your hair red”
But I kinda just like who I am
and what I’ve been thinkin’
So I think that I’ll think what I think that I think
And do what I want just the way that I want
Gotta joie d’avivre & a jeûne sais quoi
And beaucoup beaucoup & Bon Vivant!

It’s about time I told you that I love you
It’s about time I remind you that I care
It’s about time, to do all the things I said I’d do
No more delayin’ believe me when I’m sayin’

“If the world outside tries to drag you down
No point in whining or wearing a frown
No time like the present don’t wait another day
Quit your complaining wear boots if it’s raining,
be on your way”
